The birth of the Ancestors.

A little less than a hundred years have passed since the creation of Zegon when Magi felt a huge disturbance within him. Magi traced the disturbance back to the source and discovered a pool of dead magic. This pool of dead magic is the mixture of divine essence and primordial magic that were destroyed during the battle between the Goddess and the primordial magic. The remnants of the destroyed magic were scattered across Zegon but slowly began to attract one another and finally gathered into one single mass. Magi was unable to destroy or absorb the dead magic. As a desperate attempt to regain the balance of primordial magic, Magi separated the mass into smaller gobs of energy and sealed them within the body of a group of mammals and reptiles, believing that the dead magic will become inert once infused within the lifeblood of the Goddess's creation. The connection between the dead magic and the primordial magic was cut by the infusion and balance was regained.

However, the dead magic did not remain inert but instead transformed these animals. The nature of these animals changed and some of them became sentient. They were granted longevity, intelligence, and even magical abilities. This transformation did not happen overnight, and with varying period of time for the animals to become aware of their difference with the rest of their original species. These animals were later known as the Ancestors.

Another fifty years passed before the Keepers became fully aware of the existence of the new species of magical creatures and races of sentient beings. These new races have thrived over the decades, producing many offsprings. Some races evolved subconsciously into the humanoid image of the Goddess, while the rest retained their animalistic form.

It was already too late for Magi to rectify the mistake it has wrought. The Keepers decided that since the magic in Zegon was still in balance, they will not interfere with the unexpected turn of events.
